• We will then make a time specific reservation for Alcatraz Ticket(s) as a second reservation-based on availability. This will be a separate charge from The Sunset Cruise. See combined totals below. When booking you will be given the option to select an approximate Alcatraz departure time. Ferries depart regularly from 9:00am - 4:00pm in Summer Months and 9:00am - 2:00pm in Winter Months.

Two Hour Golden Gate Sunset Cruise

Capture the essence of California's magnificent evening sky from aboard Red and White Fleet's California Sunset Cruise.

Enjoy one complimentary drink of your choice, beer, wine or soda, and enjoy complimentary light buffet-style snacks and buffet-style snacks. Please, no drinks may be brought aboard the vessel. Passengers may bring their own food aboard for picnic-style meals.

Along the way, you'll view Coit Tower, the Transamerica Pyramid and the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. As the sun begins to set over the Marin Headlands, you'll cruise past Alcatraz and Angel Island. The boat also steers along the breath-taking shorelines of Tiburon, Belvedere, and Sausalito.

Watch the sun setting over the Pacific Ocean, as you sail west towards the Golden Gate Bridge. On your way back to Fisherman's Wharf, you will see many more famous sights, including the Presidio, the Marina District, and Fort Mason.

 

Ferry to Alcatraz and Alcatraz Island Tour

After a short 10 minute ferry ride from Pier 33 across San Francisco Bay you will arrive on the infamous Alcatraz Island. The tour includes a movie of Alcatraz history and a 35 minute audio headset tour of an Alcatraz cell block.

Cruise aboard the ferry to the infamous and notorious former federal prison - home to the likes of Al Capone, George "Machine Gun" Kelley, and Robert "The Birdman" Stroud. The National Park presents a captioned orientation video with historical footage, self-guided walks, exhibits and Ranger-interpretive talks on topics such as "Famous Escapes." Also featured is an Award-winning audio tour in the prison Cell House with actual interviews of former guards and inmates - available in six languages - English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

To reach the Cell House, you must walk up a steep hill. In addition to the famous prison, Alcatraz features some of the most spectacular views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge from the beautifully landscaped Agave Trail.

After the tour there is time to visit the Alcatraz Museum, the bookshop and explore the island. Stay as long as you like ferries depart every 1/2 hour back to San Francisco. Average time spent on Alcatraz is 1 1/2 - 3 hours.

Please note: The walk to the Alcatraz Cellhouse is on steep, uneven pavement. Sustainable Easy Access Transport is available, free of cost, for wheelchair users and visitors unable to walk up the quarter mile, 12% upgrade. No animals, except certified service animals are allowed on Alcatraz Island.

GOLDEN GATE SUNSET CRUISE IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

• Schedule: April 2 - May 19 and September 8 - October 25 Cruise departs 6:00pm Thursday through Saturdays only. Cruise departs Daily at 7:00pm from May 20 - September 7.

• Sunset Cruises depart from from PIER 43 1/2 in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf. At the foot of Taylor Street - Near the Fisherman's Wharf sign.

• Paid parking lots and very limited metered street parking is available.

ALCATRAZ FERRY AND ISLAND IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

• Alcatraz Ferry departs from Pier 33 along the San Francisco Embarcadero. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your departure time for boarding.

• On-street parking in the Fisherman's Wharf area can be hard to find, and nearly every space has a parking meter. Parking meters take nickels, dimes and quarters. Commerical Parking: There are fifteen commercial lots with a five-block radius of the Alcatraz Landing at Pier 33, with a total of more than 3,000 parking spaces. The closest and most convenient lot is at 80 Francisco at Kearny, just one block away, across the Embarcadero from Alcatraz Landing.

• Handicap Accessibility: Visitors unable to make the climb up Alcatraz's roads may take advantage of SEAT - Sustainable Easy Access Transport - an electric shuttle that meets each scheduled arrival at the Alcatraz dock and transports visitors requiring mobility assistance from the dock to the prison building. SEAT returns visitors requiring mobility assistance from the prison building back to the dock at regular intervals throughout the day. Visitors requiring mobility assistance may be accompanied by one attendant in their party if space is available. Families with small children and strollers cannot be accommodated on SEAT. The following areas are completely wheelchair accessible: Alcatraz dock area, Prison building main floor, All bookstores, Museum displays and Island theater.

• The Alcatraz Ferry operates year round. Reservations are limited to 8 tickets and are available for purchase for the next 60 days. If you book 60 or more days in advance we will process your sightseeing tour reservation now and hold and book the Alcatraz Ferry as the dates are released to the public.
